What happens is that the town may begin to encroach on residential property and then the property may be rezoned to allow it to be reclassified as commercial real estate now. A home that was a half a mile out of town may suddenly find itself in town when the town grows. Many people think that commercial real estate is only the property in town that has a business on it. In fact it is safe to say that any piece of property that has more than four residential units on it is commercial real estate. Commercial real estate like this is very much in demand for investors.
